Microblading FAQs

What is Microblading?

How long will the results last?

What is the healing process?

Microblading is a semi-permanent make up technique used to enhance and reshape the eyebrows.

A hand-held tool, tipped with fine needle points is used to create tiny, hair stroke cuts that mimic individual brow hairs. Each stroke is defined when filled in with pigment

Natural looking results are achieved by following the unique direction of hair growth individual to each person.

What is the healing process?

The healing process differs from person to person depending on factors such as skin type. Generally the skin should have healed 10-14 days after the procedure. The brows will appear to darken in the few days following the procedure and scabs will start to form. The brows must be kept dry (other than gentle wiping clean and adding the Phi candy barrier balm.) Until the scabs have fallen away naturally and the skin underneath has healed. Once the skin has healed the colour and strokes should appear softer and more natural. The top up appointment is essential 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment, here any strokes that have disappeared will be added. Oily skin may require an additional top up.

How long will the results last?

This is dependent on factors such as skin type ,life style and age. Generally results can last between 6 -18 months. The results tend to fade faster on those with oilier skin, those that have regular facial treatments that include active ingredients to promote skin resurfacing ,those that sun bathe regularly and those with younger skin. Please note that the pigment does not always fade evenly and all at once, in these situation sparse areas can be filled in with brow pencil or gels.

Is it painful?

How long will the results last?

In my experience and having asked clients I would say that the pain is mild for most and only moderate for some. Usually likened to a scratching sensation rather than painful. To ensure the finest strokes can be made on a natural skin texture, your brow area will be numbed following the initial full set of strokes have been made on each brow. Following the procedure, skin may be slightly red or swollen.

Microblading is not for everyone.
